Project Overview
The Statewide Bicycle and Pedestrian Plan and Map Update process includes evaluating the state’s goals and policies, overall needs, and ideas for bicycle and pedestrian improvements in the state. The process is expected to last 18 months and include a variety of public and agency involvement efforts as well as additional efforts that are new to bicycle and pedestrian planning in Connecticut. These new efforts include:
- Benchmarking Review – An analysis of a select group of other states’ bicycle and pedestrian planning efforts, including interviews of appropriate staff.
- A Benefit Analysis – An assessment of the benefits of bicycle and pedestrian projects in Connecticut.
The process, which began in January 2008, will result in a state Plan and a Map that provides Connecticut residents and visitors with information on bicycle and pedestrian policies, facilities, and needs.
